This blog/forum community website has been set up to help care and/or support workers vent in safe place, without the risk of losing your jobs.
Just remember to never share specifics about the companies you work for, or any other confidential information, especially about service users. This is meant to be anonymous. When you're signing up to the members page, I urge you to use an alias and not your real name.
Here is an example of what we expect to see:
"I was at work today and I really had to bite my tongue, the manager told me to tidy a residents room because there was a bad smell, even though the resident wasn't home and hadn't given permission. This isn't allowed, Residents have the right to privacy and we cannot force personal hygiene, has anyone else experienced this? "
The above statement explains the situation and expresses your frustration, but it's totally confidential.
If anything you share is a safeguarding issue which needs to be followed up, we urge you to report this and if you're unsure how, we can help you report issues to the CQC and/or local authority.
We want to help each other alleviate stress and most importantly, use each others experience to ensure the best practices under the current legislation regarding adult and social care are adhered to.
Depending on the popularity of this website, we hopefully aim to partner with course providers and unions in order to get you a discount on courses and memberships, then run blogs on module topics so you can use the website as a study guide.
We have partnered with a Registered Nurse too, who will ensure all of the blogs are medically accurate/ insightful. They can also help you with any medication concerns you have for your residents, such as prescribed medications without medication reviews, or unnecessarily prescribed which goes against STOMP.
